WHAT WE DO

brakes

WHY YOUR FIAT BRAKE PADS NEED REPLACING

It probably isn’t something you consider on a day-to-day basis, but your FIAT's brakes are one feature that should always be fully functioning for your safety and others.

Signs that your brake pads need replacing:

  • Are your brakes as responsive as they should be?
  • Is your vehicle leaking an oily fluid?
  • Is there a grinding sound when you break?

WHY YOUR FIAT BRAKE PADS & DISCS NEED REPLACING
When you apply your brakes, brake fluid is pushed around an enclosed system which brings the brake pads into contact with the brake disc, slowing you down.

Signs that your front brake pads & discs need replacing:

  • Does the brake pedal feel soft or stiffer than usual?
  • Ever felt your brake pedal or car judder?
  • Does your car steer to one side when you brake?

WHY IS THE TIMING BELT IMPORTANT?

Your timing belt (sometimes referred to as your cambelt) helps control the moving parts in your engine, including the crankshaft, camshaft and valves.  It’s made of a rubber-based compound and can deteriorate through general wear and tear.

Your timing belt is a relatively small part, but it’s vital for a smooth-running engine. It helps to stop the moving parts of your engine from colliding into each other. If your timing belt fails, you may need to have your whole engine replaced.

FIAT TYRE CHECK

Have you checked your tyres?

As the driver, you're responsible for the condition of your tyres, so it's good to know the basic criteria they should meet:

  • All tyres in good condition, free from any cuts, tears, lumps or bulges
  • Tread depth at least 1.6mm around the whole tyre, and across 75% of the width. Fiat technicians will recommend replacing tyres when the tread reaches 3mm to avoid ever reaching the lower limit
  • Pressures in line with FIAT’s recommendations
  • Appropriate and compatible tyres for the vehicle and its wheels. You also must not mix different types of tyre on the same axle.

If your tyres fall below these standards, you could face a penalty of up to £2,500 per illegal tyre, plus points on your license. Book a tyre check with Fiat today, to avoid any issues.
